Using a hands-on approach, Computer Accounting with QuickBooks® 2011 integrates understanding accounting with mastery of QuickBooks software. The text provides proven instructional techniques based on action research throughout the new edition to make students mastery of QuickBooks as effortless as possible. The Thirteenth Edition offers a complete package to learn the leading small business accounting software: QuickBooks software, comprehensive text, Student Blog, and LIVE Projects.
The text uses a highly effective three-step approach that aids students in constructing their own customized learning based on what they already know:
1. Chapter Tutorials. Providing numerous screen shots and detailed instructions, chapters in Computer Accounting with QuickBooks are designed as tutorials for the student to initially learn the accounting software features. All chapters are based on realistic, virtual company cases to enhance your understanding of the business environment in which QuickBooks is used. YouTube videos @ www.myquickbooks.me reinforce chapter tutorials.
2. Learning Activities. To improve long-term retention of student software skills and mastery of QuickBooks, learning activities are included at the end of the chapters. Designed with fewer instructions to test the understanding and, when needed, to develop skills at quickly seeking out additional information to complete tasks, the activities consist of exercises, projects and web quests. JIT Learning, the ability to seek out information as needed, is an increasingly important skill in a rapidly changing business environment. Computer Accounting with QuickBooks is designed to seamlessly facilitate your development of this crucial skill. In addition, the virtual cases challenge you to apply and develop both software and problem-solving skills.
3. Reflection. Reflection improves learning and retention. A reflection exercise, A Wish and A Star, appears at the end of each chapter to highlight what the student has learned.

The book itself was in great shape but the software for the book was unusable. The way the software is set up you have to download online templates & once you do your data is saved on a data security service that you have to sign up for in order to use the software. My problem is the chapter templates that I have to download are not there, When I click on the chapter template it gives me an error message & a solution, but the solution is to open up the data on the data security network. Naturally having just signed up to the service you don't have any files backed up so you can't do anything making the book absolutely worthless
THOUGHT I BOUGHT A NEW BOOK
By Nancy Saum on Mar 17, 2013
Bought book new and the enclosed CD registered numbers were already used and assigned to someone else. I had to call Intuit and purchase another trial license number to be able to do my homework. I have bought most of my books from Amazon and this has been a very disappointing expierence.
that was easy

Great way to learn QuickBooks

Not necessarily a book you would buy to learn on your own (though, you definitely could). I use it in my college QuickBooks Pro class and it is very easy to follow. If you know how to follow step-by-step, it is no issue at all. I am able to work ahead in class and be done in half the time of those following along with the teacher by the ease they write out the steps. My big issue, though, is the provided software trial does NOT work with Windows 7. I recently purchased a new laptop and was unhappy to find that I could not make up my classwork on a day I had to miss class sick. Just something to keep in mind when getting this book.

The text arrived in a timely fashion which I really appreciate, as my professor has already given my class our first reading assignment (though the course does not actually begin until the 31st). Also the text is in seemingly good, brand new condition. Thus far I am pleased with the text. I wish it had colored illustrations, but of course I realize that hasn't anything to do with Amazon. Overall.. pleased with my purchase. Thank you Amazon for getting the text to me in good timing. Corra, Bklyn, ny

I need the book for class and came here first to check the price. I then went to the campus bookstore and they had it $50 more. The book itself is great but the website needs to be updated so that you instead of printing out your assignments, you can go paperless.
Computer Accounting book
By Laura F. Hoak on Aug 07, 2011
This book was required for the Integrated Accounting course I took at the college for my AS degree. It teaches the QuickBooks accounting software, in addition to accounting concepts. The format of the book is geared toward credit classes, instead of non-credit (or self-learning).

This is essentially how to use Quickbooks. Need to have taken some financial accounting to understand concepts. The hardest part I had was finding the correct set of data amongst all the back-ups, which was frustrating.
