Good but Difficult to Follow

The reference book for Fluid Mechanic Profesionals for pressure losses in flow systems. Good but Difficult to Follow. Unconventional symbols. Some errors in the 3rd edition that were NOT errors in the 2nd Edition.
content good, but obviously skimped on the printing
By Sarah on Mar 16, 2011
All of the content that I was looking for in this book is there - however, obviously the printing was done "on the cheap." Several pages have smears of dirt on them, and I found what looks to be a smashed bug in between a couple of pages. There are a few places where the pages are "wrinkled" (looks like paper does when it gets jammed in a copier). Some of the text is faded or illegible in places where this happened. All of the content that I was looking for in this book is there - but the printing and construction of this book was substandard, especially for over $100.
simply a must

This book is a must for all the engineers dealing with fluid mechanics. I used it during all my career in all the places I worked. Different editions exist.
The Handbook of Hydraulic Resistance
By Nicolau on Jul 11, 2010
Amazing book, with all that is needed to calculate pressure drop, and with good accuracy for lots of hydraulic resistances.
A must for every fluid mechanic's reference shelf!

Quite an extensive collection of test data on many fluid resistance examples. Wished I had found it sooner than I did!
Handbook of Hydraulic Resistance
By Robert on Dec 28, 2011
I enjoyed Idelchik's Handbook of Hydraulic resistance. It is a must for any fluid dynamicist to have when trying to determine loss coefficients for hydraulic components.
One of the best references on my shelf!
By Chris on Jun 13, 2014
This is an excellent reference for anybody doing hydraulic network analysis through various geometries. This revision is riddled with errors and I have needed to consult other revisions (early and later) of this text and seek others to adjudicate the correct form of some loss coefficient formulas. But, bang for your buck, this is a book that you want on your reference shelf.

great book, a lot of practical info on flow resistance in many many applications, for flow of gasses and liquids.
AN UPDATE TO THE ORIGINAL WHICH I HAVE USED
By John F. Hawkins, Jr., P.e. on Dec 17, 2012
I CANNOT PROVIDE AN HONEST EVALUATION AT THIS TIME SINCE I JUST RECEIVED THE BOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO AND HAVE NOT USED IT. IT DOES APPEAR TO BE HIGHER QUALITY PRINTING AND MORE DURABLE THAN MY, NOW 30+ YEAR OLD PAPER BACK "ORIGIANAL".

The book was as expected. Mint condition and practical.
