#1 selling text with great explanations and just enough anatomy!
Clear explanations and a solid learning framework have been market tested and refined. Fox helps students master the fundamentals by providing appropriate anatomical detail.
Human Physiology, Twelfth Edition, is intended for the one-semester Human Physiology course often taken by allied health and biology students. The beginning chapters introduce basic chemical and biological concepts to provide students with the framework they need to comprehend physiological principles. The chapters that follow promote conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization of facts. Health applications are included throughout the book to heighten interest, deepen understanding of physiological concepts, and help students relate the material to their individual career goals. Every effort has been made to help students integrate related concepts and understand the relationships between anatomical structures and their functions.
KINDLE version - fantastic visually but limited navigation
By Ellie on Jan 09, 2012
I bought this Kindle version after getting a preview of it sent to my iPad where I was impressed with the didactic qualities of the fine illustrations and the excellent text. This is a premier price but put it on a Kindle device or put kindle apps on your ipad, laptop, or desktop and you will save some weight and space. The visuals are fantastic. I have found the learning experience from this to be excellent. The basic concept of this text is to get across the ideas to you. The illustrations are just fantastic! I have never seen a human physiology text with illustrations that teach the concepts so well. Currently I'm nearly through the early chapters that teach basic cell concepts - very important. What goes on in the cell is what goes on in the body as a whole. If your cells are OK, you are OK. Fluid balance, Krebs cycle, Cori cycle - it's about what the electrons do during these cycles. These cycles must work, or the cell fails. Vitamins such as B2 or B3 are coenzymes that are necessary for proper cell function. Poisons like cyanide stop the cell cycles and lead to rapid death. The next chapter I'll be reading is on the Nervous System. Unlike some health related texts I've read, I can't wait to get started on it. This text is just that interesting. Recommended.
This was great.

This was one edition behind the one that my prof used and it worked great. Not any differences except the cover. I really wish that text book people would quit trying to screw over us college students by making us by the newest edition when there really aren't any changes in the text content. This book was in excellent condition.
Overall terrible physiology book
By Critical Reviewer on Apr 29, 2012
As a math and chemistry major with courses in senior level biochemistry courses, I found Fox's book to be inaccurate in several areas (his explanation of DNA transcription using the codon/anticodon scheme is grossly inaccurate and would lead to wrong answers on the MCAT), or just plain obtuse. There are areas that he skimps over without much thought, and other areas that are belabored to the point of confusion. I would highly recommend Sherwood's book over this. It's too bad that I just discovered her book so late into our semester.
A Must For Science Courses

Vibrant colors will help students to remember key points. The book has a web-site for added information. If you are a college student and your professor has ordered this book for your class, buy it from amazon to save money or you can use your financial aid money to pay for the book. It is your choice. Good illustrations.
Very good service

This parcel arrive very quickly and in good condition. I am a university student and the school only lets us know which books we need for the courses the very day we initially start classes. Thank goodness this book arrived on time so I could start my readings!
I highly recommend this book

it was damaged and i had to put a cover on it tobprevent the damage to go any further. Not cool to sendnour books that have damage done because we have to take extra care of them to avoid being charged for it.

Fox does a great job of simplifying a rather in depth and difficult topic, recommended for beginning through advanced medical school or pharmacy school students or more advanced undergrad health students.
Exactly what I needed

Great seller, great product, the author/ subject matter explained a little on the dry side but fairly clear and concise. I had no way around it as this was required for my class.
