The revewiers are correct: this is an exceptional cookbook, with great photography and superb recipes that are, for the most part, easy to make. However, this cookbook can be found at Nordstorm in store Bistro restaurants brand new for 24.95! Check there. I don't have a clue why anyone would want to charge 250.00 for this book.
Best of the Nordstrom series

The Friends and Family cookbook has been a constant in my kitchen for about three years now. I bought this cookbook because I have always enjoyed the Nordstrom Cafe food, and instantly started to plan my weekly menu while flipping through. I have attempted about 1/3 of the recipes in this book, and all have been so delicious, that many are new family favorites. The barbecue sauce recipe even got my brother into the kitchen, and now it's his signature move if he's trying to impress his company. The following two Nordstrom cookbooks (Flavors and Entertaining at Home) are also high quality and easy to follow, but I have found the recipes in the Friends and Family book to be slightly more appealing to a wider audience (always a consideration when entertaining).
Outstanding AND do-able recipes

Searched Amazon for this outstanding cookbook to purchase for a friend but see that there are only Used books available (must be out of print?). I recommend this cookbook as a collector's item for any cook's library. I served the Baked Potato Soup to friends over the weekend and it was a hit! Haven't found a bad recipe yet!
Absolute must have for any at home chef

This is in my top three cook books and its my go to read when I need to find a dish for a dinner party or just dinner for the two of us. The recipes are so wonderful and its not just one of those cookbooks that you use once or twice and forget about. Honestly its my first one I open when I need an idea for an amazing meal. Many of the recipes from the Nordstrom Cafe menu are in this book. If you haven't eaten at the Nordstrom Cafe which is a restaurant located in the store then you are definitely missing out. Its a quick, affordable place and I am always blown away by the amazing food so when I discovered this book had recipes from the cafe I was on cloud nine. One of my favorites is their bistro french fries that are coated in herbs like rosemary, thyme and chives. They are a lot of work but so very much worth it. There are recipes for salads and salad dressings that are out of this world. The recipes are all very thorough and easy to follow. The style of the book is elegant and the large glossy photos make it a fun book to look through. I truly have no bad things to say about this book and only wish I had bought it sooner.

I really like this cookbook. My grand-daughter go to the Nordstrom cafe whenever we can and the tomato soup is one of our favorite things. This cookbook has that recipe as well as many other mouthwatering selections.

This is a great cookbook, many good comments on the recipes that I have used.
One of my top 10 go-to cookbooks!
By Jennifer Christensen on Jun 29, 2009
This is, hands-down, one of my favorite cookbooks. A lot of the recipes are truly from the Nordstrom Cafe. A few of my go-to recipes are; Summer Tomato and Basil Soup, Grilled Chicken Chardonnay, Grilled Butterflied Leg of Lamb, Grand Marnier Roasted Chicken, Summer Corn Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette and Plum Tomatoes. There are only 2 or 3 recipes in this book I would not consider cooking. This book would make a wonderful addition to any cooks library.

As you might expect, this hard-to-find Nordstrom's cookbook is a quality piece of work: well-designed, rock solid, beautiful illustrations. What I've come to love about it is how much "bang" I get from these not-insanely-complicated recipes. 1 page recipes with roughly 6 to 12 ingredients that yield marvelous, delicious, dishes with complex tastes and textures. Makes me happy.

By far the best cookbook I own. Everything I've made I've loved! Classic, simple and declicious! I highly recommend it!

I love to cook and love Nordstrom's Cafe, so for me this was a must have cookbook. Two of my favorites...Bistro Crab Bisque and their White Chocolate Bread Pudding are listed. Many people, even the cafe staff, have mentioned this was their best issue.
