The Collin County Historical Society - now the North Texas History Center - partnered with the Texas State Historical Association to reprint Seymour Conner's classic work on perhaps the most important colonizing effort in Texas history. The book is heavily indexed, making it an excellent tool for genealogists as well as historians. It contains an immense amount of information on some of Texas' earliest pioneers. A must for every Texas library and every Texas historian.
THE PETERS COLONY
By Lawrence Seeger on Jan 03, 2014
THE PETERS COLONY OF TEXAS was an invaluable aid in the research I am doing on my ancestors who settled in early Texas and fought to gain its independence. The book deals with the settlement of a huge portion of North Texas including Tarrant, Denton, Cooke and Dallas counties. The Peters Colony grant encompassed 16,00 square miles of North Texas land.

Wonderful and accurate preservation of the history of the brave pioneers and their families coming into Texas. Thanks so much!
