Product Description

Since 1997, The Washington Manual of Surgery has consistently provided residents with need-to-know surgical information and guidance in a convenient and easily accessible source. This is a resident-prepared manual, and as such, each chapter was updated and revised by a resident with assistance from a faculty coauthor from the Department of Surgery at one of the world’s top surgical training programs. The Manual’s unique perspective gives readers a clear view of the challenges surgical residents face, and of the practical solutions they have seen work, first hand.

Now in its Sixth Edition, The Washington Manual of Surgerycontinues to deliver a concise, rational approach to the management of patients with surgical conditions. The text has been redesigned to make it even more user friendly, and the content has been updated with the latest advances in surgical technique and instrumentation.

Customer Book Reviews

Great resource on your smart phone.

Broad spectrum, thorough but not long winded, easy to read, up to date, useful figures interspersed in text. Best quick surgical reference I have come across. Will answer just about any basic questions concerning pathology, epidemiology, prognosis, treatments etc. Have gotten a lot of use out of this resource on my droid phone. Electronic version is incredibly convenient.

Good short review

Bought this for a useful resource and a good way to quickly read up on something while waiting around the hospital. Found it easy and concise to read while still covering all the basics

Strong book for absite studying

Great book for absite study and daily review. Lack of color pictures and flow diagrams are the only weaknesses of this book.

Five Stars

good condition

Well-organized and thorough

This has always been a handy summary text and a day to day working knowledge book for surgery. It is concise and hits the high points and gives a lot of information without being too lengthy. It helps to create the framework on which to build more in depth knowledge in surgery.

great book for cementing knowledge

If you are looking for a book more detailed than a review book but one that is realistically possible to read and re-read chapters from before passing out, I highly recommend this book. Succinct enough for a quick review of suspected conditions before presenting a case to a senior resident, detailed enough to provide citations to studies to back up your treatment decisions. No images, so I keep a copy of this and Netter on my iPad in my white coat pocket for easy references! Add notes from your lectures and other reading in the margins (or e-book equivalent) to create a thorough reference source for years down the line. Highly recommend for junior residents.

Five Stars

good read

Great surgical overview

Good for med school surgical rotation! Each section reviews the epidemiology, pathophysiology, medical treatment, and surgical treatment options. It is concise and small enough to take with you on the wards.

I love the service

when I received the book, it is way more than I expected. It is like a new one. I would recommend it for all my friends.
