Scammed by Amazon
By Monochrome Ape on Jan 17, 2014
As with a couple of other reviewers, I have had huge problems trying to sell this book back to Amazon. I purchased the "Book Only" version without the course mate materials. When I received the book, there was a sticker on the back cover with an ISBN number indicating it was the "Book Only" version, but the ISBN listed inside the front cover is that of the Book + Course Mate package. When I went to trade the book back in AS THE SAME ISBN THAT AMAZON USED TO SELL IT TO ME it was rejected. They also kindly defaced the sticker on the back before returning it to me in somewhat more beat-up condition than when I shipped it. I spoke to several individuals in customer service was completely underwhelmed by their ability to correct the situation. All suggested that I try again with a note included in the return box and in my customer file explaining the situation and requesting contact before the book was rejected again. The book was once again rejected without any further contact from Amazon. I find this unbelievably frustrating. How can this be? This book was Understanding Art (Book Only) when I bought it from Amazon, but that's not what it is when I go to sell it back using the exact same ISBN number listed on my Amazon order. The sticker that was on the back of this book makes me feel like I was deliberately deceived and knowingly given a product that did not actually match what I paid for. This type of situation should either warrant Amazon taking the book back as the same ISBN that they used to sell it, or refunding the original order because the wrong product was shipped. In reality, it somehow falls into a poor customer service limbo where you end up accepting the futility of trying to get the situation resolved and just stick the thing on a bookshelf somewhere or sell it to a university bookstore for next to nothing. The book itself was helpful in my studies, but if you choose to order it from Amazon be aware that you're not going to be able to trade it back in.

Book did not come with the CourseMate eBook Access Card
By Captain Paul on Dec 24, 2013
I have to return this book because the rental copy does not come with the access card that is listed in the description. if you want the access card it cost $116.00 for the publisher. if i'm going to pay $60.00 for the rental and another $116.00 for the card, I might as will buy a new book for $170.00. Very disappointed with this transaction.

The exact book I need. Brand new, cheaper than my bookstore I would have bought it for. Thank you. Got it on perfect timing.

Really , not a happy camper.. Paid a lot for a very used book . I could deal with that my bad, but for them to tell me (comes with course mate and printed access card). Nope it did not had to purchase separate. And I do not even need the book after all.
