Passarella has woven another chilling masterpiece ..., December 02, 2004
Reviewer: Chris Cudbertson from North Lincolnshire, England
After destroying Elizabeth Wither for a second time,
supernaturally gifted teenager Wendy Ward finally believed this would be the
last she would see of the ex-coven leader. She was right. But although she may
have destroyed Wither physically, her legacy still continues in a bitter curse
she placed upon Wendy in her final dying moments. A curse that has awoken a
carnivorous yellowed eyed, seven foot beast that will stop at nothing until it
tastes her sweet flesh between it ravenous fangs ...
Bram Stoker Award-winner John Passarella has done it again
with his latest novel, 'Wither's Legacy', the third (and possibly final)
chilling part to the critically-acclaimed Wendy Ward series.
Passarella has proved himself to be one of the most
highly-gifted and enthusiastic writers in the industry, and Wither's Legacy is
no exception of his unique writing perspective. His plotting, dialogue, and
attention to detail are as fine-tuned as ever, as is his uncanny knack of
drawing the reader in for more after every page. Passarella also shows an
in-creased understanding of his characters within the novel, but doesn't spare
any from his un-suspecting hit list.
For a chilling read this winter (or any time), 'Wither's
Legacy' comes as highly recommended as you can get. A fine choice for any
bookshelf.

Wither's Legacy dives into the horror of the story when
Wendy realizes that her battle with Wither is not over and Wither has left her a
curse. And Wendy must prepare for some great evil she knows nothing about. It is
a race against time and fear to try and defeat the Monster of Wither's Legacy.
Wendy must gather all her strength and rely on her friends to help her hone her
skills and be ready for what Wither throws at her. With Wendy and her friends'
futures are uncertain, does Wendy stand a chance against this gruesome winter
monster that is magically attracted to her? Who will Wendy lose because of
Wither's curse?
Even if you have not read these first two books, Passarella
does not leave you out of the mix. He has a great way of weaving a story so that
you will not be lost if you did not read the first two books. (Though I
recommend you read them, because they are wonderful.) This is the longest book
in the series and Passarella really gets into the characters and lays out their
paths starting from the aftermath of the last book. He really has a way of
bringing the characters to life and making you care about them. He really
solidifies their relationships to each other and to us.

Once again, John Passarella has outdone himself. I have
loved the Wither series since the first book, and each one keeps getting better.
We see less of Wither in this book, with a Wendigo following Wendy instead.
Kayla is also back in black with some worries of her own, Hannah's character
takes new shape, and even Alex is here - bound and determined for a little more
action with Wendy. Read the book and see what I mean. You won't be
dissappointed! I can't wait to read more.

While Wendy Ward's life has been anything but normal, she
was hoping for a little peace and quiet. Elizabeth Wither and her coven have not
let Wendy and the town of Windale get comfortable since the beginning when they
plotted to take the bodies of Wendy, Abby, and Hannah. Wither has been a memory
of this Massachusetts town for centuries, but the time had come for her and her
coven to rise again. While that is the story of the first book (Wither), the
second book (Wither's Rain) continues Wither's evil plans to get what she wants
this time through the body of Gina Thorne. So Wendy must battle Wither in a new
body that makes for a great action packed horror read.

This book contains supernatural elements and is considered
horror, but it doesn't contain so much gore and graphic detail as some books do.
It's horror lite ;) I really enjoyed reading about Wendy and the obstacles she
faces in this novel. The author provides enough backstory for each character so
that reading the first two novels isn't necessary to enjoy this book. I didn't
get a chance to read them before, but I certainly will now, because I really
enjoyed his writing style and the depth that he gives his characters. It's easy
to become attached to them and hope they survive what's coming to visit.

Passarella spins another masterpiece!, October 04, 2004

"Wither's Legacy" is the exciting third book of
the Wendy Ward series. Usually by the time you reach the third book of a series,
you're pretty sure which direction the characters will grow, and what paths
their stories will take. I can honestly say that this isn't the case for this
wonderfully written series. John Passarella has continued to treat us to an
unpredictable story as we follow the growth of not only Wendy Ward, but also the
rest of the cast.
The story opens with Wendy recovering from the tragedy which
ended the second book, WITHER'S RAIN. We find her in Canada, staying with fellow
Wiccan Tara while she recovers her balance. The fast paced story takes off from
that wintery region, and speeds across the continent until we're back in
Windale, Mass.- the home of the centuries-old Wither and the location of
culmination of the curse Wither laid upon Wendy through the dying Gina Thorne.
John Passarella again proves that we need not make
assumptions on his characters, as what we would assume most likely won't happen.
Get ready for a fun, fast paced ride with Wendy as she confronts the curse
invoked by Wither, and readies herself to face her future. What it holds in
store for her, even she can't imagine.
