Synopsis
Paul Graves is proud of his father, the owner of a dairy farm. In the era in which the book is set, milk is delivered right to people's houses in glass bottles fresh from the dairy, and the process of pasteurization (sterilizing the milk) was a new invention. Paul's father refuses to pasteurize his milk, calling the process a fad. However, when Paul's sister gets sick from unpasteurized milk, Paul's father learns an important lesson about balancing change and tradition. Color illustrations accompany the text. Tells the story of the Graves Family Dairy, whose three horses pulled the wagons delivering milk to families in the years before trucks and shopping centers replaced them.
