Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Reviewed with Mark Tyler Nobleman's Rosa Parks.

Gr. 6-9. These biographies in the Trailblazers of the Modern World series focus on two of the twentieth-century's most notable people: Parks, whose courageous act on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus has been named as the event that launched the civil rights movement; Ford, who popularized mass production. As with other volumes in the series, these titles use historical photographs and excerpts from letters, newspapers, and other documents to introduce the world in which the individuals lived and provide visual images of how they helped share our culture. In Parks, readers can explore the difficult times in the segregated south. Henry Ford's volume includes a discussion of unionization. A time line, a glossary, and a list of further readings make these books good research tools. Heather Hepler
