The Edinburgh Castle Pub has become a San Francisco literary institution. -- Irvine Welsh

Product Description
Amidst the grease splattered fish wrap and the top shelves of single malt scotches, a thriving literary scene has sprung up at a Scottish pub in one of San Francisco's shadiest neighborhoods. Since 1995, internationally acclaimed authors and local literati have read their works and hawked their wares at the Edinburgh Castle Pub on Geary Street in SF's Tenderloin District. Now the Castle's own publishing company, Public House Press, has released this self-titled anthology, collecting works by a wide assortment of the authors who have read, spoken and shouted on the tavern's stage.

Public House features short stories by such best-selling authors as Mary Roach (Stiff), Anthony Swofford (Jarhead), and Po Bronson (What Should I Do With My Life?) Also included in this edition is a never-before-released live CD of Trainspotting author and godfather of the Castle literary scene, Irvine Welsh. Reading from his his novel PORNO, recorded at The Edinburgh Castle Pub in 2004.

A special introduction to the book is penned by Keith and Kent Zimmerman, authors of Hell's Angel with Sonny Barger.
